Working in Saudi Arabia
Working or carrying out a professional activity in Saudi Arabia requires obtaining an appropriate professional visa, regardless of the duration or nature of the assignment.
As a self-employed person (entrepreneur, consultant, freelancer):
You can:
- Travel to Saudi Arabia to meet with partners, attend trade shows, negotiate or manage contracts;
- Create or develop a self-employed activity, in collaboration with a local entity or as part of an investment.
- ⚠️ This generally requires a Business Visa, granted upon invitation from a Saudi company or sponsoring organization.
As an employee (contract worker):
You can:
- Be seconded by your company under a service contract with a local partner;
- Be recruited directly by a Saudi company, under a local contract (fixed-term or permanent);
- Carry out intra-group mobility (between a parent company and its subsidiary in Saudi Arabia);
- Complete a professional internship or training assignment.
These situations generally require a work visa, linked to mandatory sponsorship (sponsor/Saudi company), as well as a residence permit for long-term assignments.
